GOING UNDER

Synopsis
Jesse Boone is a self-proclaimed bad boy and doesn’t march to the beat of anyone’s drum but his own. Growing up in less than desirable circumstances has made him no stranger to the hard knock life but his determination to leave it behind is fervent. He sees an opportunity to snag a college football scholarship when he’s transferred to East Franklin High School but Forbes Henderson has other plans. The player Jesse intends to replace doesn’t plan on giving up his spot as starting quarterback so a rivalry is born. Jesse is determined to show his nemesis that he’s not only going to take his position as first string quarterback, he’s going to take his girl, too. Claire Deveraux is perfection at its best. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and unaware she just became Jesse Boone’s conquest to settle a score with her boyfriend. Like her flawless performance as the perfect daughter and student, Claire’s production of being the perfect girlfriend has everyone fooled, except Jesse Boone. She fears this tattooed bad boy will see her secret desire to explore his crude threats and promises of rocking her perfect world. If she decides to give in to one uninhibited moment with Jesse, will she learn too late that it was all an act of vengeance or will Jesse learn that the taste of first love is sweeter than that of revenge?

Excerpt

Claire Deveraux’s POV
Once we’re started on the assignment, I catch Jesse staring at me. Suddenly self-conscious, I run my palms down each of my cheeks. “What are you looking at? Do I have something on my face?”“You do.” He reaches out, grazing the back of his fingers against my cheek. “You’ve got a little beautiful right there.”The heat rises because I’m not used to such direct compliments. Forbes doesn’t do romantic. He’s too busy planning how he’ll get what he wants from me.“You want to kiss me, don’t you?” God, do I ever. He’s daring—and I love it—so I decide to return the boldness. “You have no idea how much.”He isn’t going to back down. I see his determination but as I recall, he warned me about that. “I bet I have a pretty good idea since I probably want to kiss you just as much. Maybe more.”We’re alone—most likely safe from being seen—but not guaranteed so it makes it so much more exciting. The thrill of being caught by someone makes my heart pump faster. I look into his pale blue eyes, willing him to lean forward and take the kiss I’m prepared to give him.“I’ll do it,” he threatens.“Then stop talking about it.” I know the sure-fire way to seal the deal. “I dare you.”Bingo. I see it in his eyes. He’s in full-on badass mode. “I warned you I don’t back down.”“That’s what I’m counting on.”I imagine him leaning forward to steal a quick kiss but he doesn’t. He takes my hand and leads me across the library. He looks in every direction before opening a door and pulling me into a storage room I didn’t know existed. He shuts the door behind us and locks it.Oh God. What’s he going to do?He places his hands around my waist and pulls me close, our faces almost touching. “Believe me yet?”“No. I need more proof.”“I was hoping you’d say that.”He places sweet, soft kisses on my lips and my legs threaten to crumble beneath me. His mouth migrates to my neck and up to my ear where he sucks my lobe. I let him because I know the door is locked.

SHALLOW

Synopsis
Nick Hawke wants his car fast and his girls faster. He blows through them quicker than his muscle car races down the drag strip in Collinsville and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s determined to avoid the devastation he has watched his father endure in the aftermath of his mother’s abandonment. He believes there is no room in his life or his heart for a relationship lasting more than one night. He seeks happiness in things that won’t let him down––fast cars, adrenaline highs, and one night stands. All of that changes when he unexpectedly runs into an old friend and is introduced to Payton Archer, the first girl he ever wanted for more than a night. There’s only one catch––she’s completely immune to him and his smooth talking ways. Payton Archer is looking for love––the true, mad, deep kind. She’s given up on finding it, at least until she leaves for college because she’s certain that is where she’ll find the ideal guy to fit into her perfect world. Her summer plans include nothing more than three uneventful months of fun but it turns out to be anything but ordinary when Payton meets Nick Hawke, one of Jesse’s old Collinsville friends. She’s shocked by her immediate and intense attraction for “Hawke” because nothing about him is on her checklist for the perfect love. Sure, he’s hot and sexy but he comes from Collinsville and that is definitely not on her list of prerequisites. Everything about him makes Payton’s heart speed. He’s exciting and dangerous but his fast car and chance taking aren't what scares Payton the most. It’s the way Nick Hawke makes her feel every time he looks at her. Can Payton find the courage to leave the safe, shallow end of love and risk going under completely?

Excerpt
Nick Hawke’s POV
I lick my lips as I look at her shiny gloss, imagining how soft and slick her mouth would be against mine. I’ve never wanted to lean in for a kiss so badly in all my life. Being at the top of this Ferris wheel with her couldn’t be more perfect but I can’t do it. I’m too scared.I’m Nick Hawke—a sexpert and fearless daredevil—but that doesn’t matter. I’m too chickenshit to kiss this girl because she’s wonderful and perfect and different—everything I never knew I wanted—so I don’t want to blow it by pushing too hard, too fast. The wheel stops to load another couple. “I’m sorry I didn’t say this already, but thank you for taking care of my drunk ass last night. I didn’t think I’d get wasted after two drinks. Guess I drank them too fast.”I reach for her hand and give it a squeeze. “I didn’t mind. It was my pleasure—puke and all.”She shakes her head while looking down. “Liar.” She laughs. “The whole thing with Cooper was stupid. I guess I tried to make him be my version of Jesse. I know that’s a weird thing to say. I’m sort of messed up that way.” She looks up at me. “I’m sorry. I don’t know why I told you that.”Claire’s right. She’s seeing her relationship with Cooper for what it is.All the carriages are loaded so we rise and fall as the wheel rotates. A gust of wind picks up as we soar to the top. A wild strand of hair blows into her face, sticking in her lip gloss. I can’t resist the excuse to touch her so I reach forward to set it free. All I can taste and breathe is this moment with her. Our time together will be over soon and I don’t want to go home without telling her I have to see her again.I twirl the wild strand around my fingers before tucking it behind her ear. “You told me you wouldn’t go out with me because you were looking for something different, but you’re here with me now.”A painful expression crosses her face. “You’ve been really sweet to me and I’ve had a wonderful time with you tonight—as a friend—but we can never be more than that. You’ve gone through too many girls.”“I used protection every time without fail. I swear I haven’t caught anything, if that’s what you’re worried about.”She’s blushing. Shit. I think I’ve embarrassed her. “I’m glad to hear that you had the good sense to practice safe sex but that’s not what I mean. I’m looking for something lasting and you’re looking for your next romp.”She has this all wrong. “I know that’s what you think, but I’m not.”“You are, and I’m a quest. I won’t flip on to my back for you and it’s driving you crazy because it’s new territory.”“That’s not true.”“It’s only a matter of time before you grow tired of me and move on to the next chase. If we leave well enough alone, we’ll walk away from this unscathed. We might even be friends.”I want to be so much more than friends. I want Payton Archer for reasons other than sex.I am being honest with myself about what I really want for the first time in a long time.“You’re wrong, but it’s going to take a while for you to see that. In the meantime, I’ll take your friendship.”

Excerpt

“You should meet my brother.”I had been picked up many times in airport bars, but a brother set up was a first. Not that I expected the woman sitting next to me—with her glass of Pinot Grigio—to be the type to hit on strange women, but this was JFK. A crossroads of world travelers meant anything was possible. We’d been sitting silently next to each other at a sushi bar, poking away at our phones when our identical orders of spicy tuna hand-rolls were placed in front of us. She initiated a conversation and we fell into an animated discussion about the delicious merits of quality sushi.
Married? Never. Her? DivorcedKids? No way. Her? A thirteen-year-old daughter. From? Portland. Her? Chicago. Her accent told me she wasn’t born there. I guessed someplace like Scandinavia where they bred supermodels. The typical questions of where we were headed and sharing our woes of travel followed. I liked her.“Is your brother in Dubai?” I asked. Anita had shared her excitement over her upcoming week there. I admitted it sounded glamorous and far more luxe than my travel plans.“No, Dubai is for business and a little fun. My brother’s in Amsterdam, where I’m from. You did say you’re going to Amsterdam, didn’t you?”Dutch. I was close. Must be all the cheese. Or chocolate.“Oh, right. I’ll be there for a week before my work takes me to Ghana.”“Are you a missionary?” the athletic blonde asked me.“A missionary in Amsterdam? Is anyone that much of a masochist? I’m not even a fan of the missionary position.”She spit out her wine. Wiping her chin with a napkin, she gathered her composure. “I thought perhaps you planned to visit Amsterdam to sin a little before doing the good work in Africa. Isn’t that what most Americans do there? Meddle with the best intentions in the name of a church?”I blinked at my bar mate. “Not a fan of religion?”“I grew up in the Netherlands. Churches are for tourists in most towns.”I laughed. “I think I’ll fit right in there. To answer your question, I’m a professor. My sabbatical is taking me to Amsterdam, and then on to Accra to study the female form in Ashanti sculptures.”“You study naked women?”
“Not only women. I’m an equal opportunity nudist. I mean I study the human form across cultures. Nothing against the penis, but it’s hard to represent one in all its glory without it seeming silly or grotesque.” I giggled, and Anita did, too. “I prefer female bodies in art with all the beautiful variation.”She blatantly swept her gaze over my body, from my messy, dark bob down to my overnight flight outfit of an open cardigan over exposed, but tasteful, cleavage, down to my yoga pants and comfortable but not fashionable flats. Maybe she was hitting on me. I straightened the scarf around my neck.“You really should look up my brother.” She tapped her phone, bringing it to life. “I’ll give you his information. Text him. He’ll be perfect company while you’re in Amsterdam.” Out of her designer bag, she pulled a business card and an expensive looking pen, which she used to scrawl a name and number on the back of her card.“Your brother’s name is Gerhard?” I failed to fully stifle my snort. Get hard. Gerrharrd. Gerhard would make the perfect name for a scoundrel pirate. I’d have to remember it for my next pirotica novel.

About the Author

Before writing funny contemporary romances about adults, I dreamed of being an author while doing a lot of other things. Antiques dealer, baker, blue ribbon pie-maker, fangirl, freelance writer, gardener, pet mom and wife are a few of the titles I've acquired along the way.
Born and raised in San Diego, my husband and I currently live in a real life Stars Hollow in the Boston suburbs with our dog, Hubbell, and an imaginary house goat.
Ready to Fall, my second novel, features John Day, the hot, sexy neighbor in my debut novel Geoducks Are for Lovers. Both can be read as standalones.
My third novel, Missionary Position, a contemporary romance/romantic comedy, will be released on June 10, 2014. It stars Selah Elmore, from Geoducks, and can be read as a standalone.

About the Author
7243737T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia.
T's approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience.
With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world.
While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have travelled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley the wonder dog.
An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident who didn't lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn't let it go.
T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colourful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey - she is well and truly enjoying the ride!
Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.

Be My December?

Excerpt
Everything happened so quickly.
My hand encased hers, entwining our fingers in a protective move I couldn’t put into words.
I didn’t stick around to hear anything else Nick decided to spit.
I tugged on our joined hands and she, without question, followed me though the crowd towards the far corner of the bar where we were still close enough to the action yet able to be hidden from the fuckwit likes of Nick Edwards.
My mind raced about what I could possibly say to explain my irrational actions. Since when had I become some knight in shining armor?
When we reached our refuge, I halted and dropped her hand.
The moment I stepped back, I collided with a hard wall of Josh’s body, and over my shoulder, I found Josh staring at me with wide eyes. I tore my eyes from Josh and turned to find Eden, her friend, and Ashlyn awaiting my next move.
“Do something, dickhead. All eyes are on you after that little performance. You don’t go caveman and grab your woman and then just stand beside her like she’s a stranger.” Josh was right. I looked back towards the corner of the bar and wasn’t surprised to find Nick and his crew watching with knowing smirks on their faces. Fuck. I had two choices. I could walk away right now, leave the bar knowing that I had done a good deed, and hope to Christ that she could take care of herself, or I could man the fuck up and finish what I’d started.I pulled Eden firmly against me, wrapping my arms tightly around her waist so her back was flush with my chest.
Resting my chin on her shoulder, I couldn’t help but notice how well her body molded to mine. She still hadn’t said a word.
Her body was rigid in my arms, and after I heard her inhale sharply, she now held her breath.
“You’ve got to breathe,” I whispered into her ear.
Once again, she simply nodded.
She trembled like a leaf in a hurricane against me.
Her hands finally clutched my bare forearms, which were resting over her stomach.
Her nails dug into my flesh, sending a shot of pain up through my arms, but I didn’t say a thing. Her body wouldn’t stop trembling, and without hesitation, my grip tightened, trying desperately to pull her body closer to mine.
She was completely breaking down in my arms and I didn’t know what the fuck to do, so I did what I hoped would calm her down. I held on to her for dear life.

  Exclusive Excerpt:

~Gail~
I startled myself awake and checked the clock. “Shit, shit, shit,” I muttered. I had overslept by nearly thirty-five minutes. I flew out of bed and darted for the bathroom to take a shower, realizing I must not have heard Damon getting out of bed this morning. He usually woke up nearly an hour before me, and I always heard him clunking around, so I’d stopped setting my alarm. Bad idea. I had stayed up late last night, reading a steamy romance novel, while waiting for him to come home. I must have slept like a rock. I slid to a stop in the bathroom and locked the door. I was used to locking it now, thanks to having a roommate. With quick succession, I stripped off my clothes and showered in lightning speed. Then, I dried off and noticed I’d forgotten to grab my scrubs for work. After I securely wrapped my towel around me, tucking it under my armpits, I cracked the door open to take a quick peek just in case. The coast was clear, so I ran for it, mindful that my feet were still damp in my hastiness. Three feet from my bedroom door, Damon rounded the corner, rubbing his head sleepily with his hand. His eyes bulged when he looked up. “What the—” I loudly gasped as I crashed into him, expecting to tumble to the floor in a heap of tangled limbs. Damon’s broad arms caught me, wrapping around my waist, while my hands clung to his biceps for balance. Once I got my footing, I peeked up at him. “Hi,” I whispered breathily. His eyes were smoldering hot, darker than I’d ever seen them before, and his jaw was set. At first, I thought he was pissed, but the increasing firmness against my abdomen told me otherwise. Heat flared inside me at our contact, and desire burned within me once again. “Hi,” he murmured back in a rough tone. A second passed, or maybe several, and neither of us moved. Damon kept one hand firmly on my waist while lifting the other to cup my cheek. He caressed it back and forth with a gentleness that sent shivers racing down my back. I melted into his touch. His eyes raked over my body as he ran his thumb over my lips, tracing them, while he murmured my name. I leaned into him and brushed his lips with mine, causing him to gently glide his fingertips down to the base of my throat. Ignoring all the reasons why this was a really bad idea, I gave myself over to what my body so desperately wanted. A groan left his throat as his palm came to my neck, pulling my lips closer. He took my mouth and kissed me deeply. His kiss rocked me back on my heels, and I grasped him like a lifeline, matching his passion as I kissed him back with equal fervor. Sparks ignited within every part of me. By the time we parted, we were both gasping for air. After the most perfect moment of my life, doubts came barreling into me and knocked the wind right out of me. “Oh my God…I’m so sorry. I don’t know what came over me.” I shook my head in dismay and embarrassment at succumbing to my crush on him. This was all my fault. “I have to go.” I went to disengage myself from him, but he held me in place. “Wait,” he demanded. I could see the confusion mixed with hurt in his expression. The look had me feeling even worse. “We need to talk about this.” “No, we don’t.” I felt at a total loss and out of my league. “I kissed you, and I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” “We kissed each other,” he countered. “And what if I want to do it again?” “We can’t,” I retorted and looked up at him. “It will ruin everything.” “Ruin what?” he asked quietly. If Damon dumped me like the last guy and the guy before that, it would destroy me, and I could not let that happen. I was a stronger woman now. Plus, I was riding a very thin line with my finances, and if Damon and I crossed this boundary between us, there would be no going back. Things were perfect the way they were now. I did not want to mess it up. Plus, Caroline’s education was partially riding on my shoulders, which in turn was riding on having a roommate help pay my rent. It was an awful double standard, yes, but there was no other way. It was too risky. I would have to just live with my attraction to him. When I did not answer him, he added, “Gail, no matter what happens between us, I would never just walk out on you.” It was as though he had guessed what my apprehensions were. His last words hit me deep and gave me the strength to say my peace. I would not jeopardize my sister’s future over dating a man I barely knew. Especially given my history with men who only wanted one thing. My past gave me the courage to say my peace. I stood up tall, tightened my towel, and looked him straight in the eyes. “That’s what every guy says, and you’ll be no different.” Damon dropped his hands, letting me go, as if I’d slapped him. His eyes turned unreadable. My heart constricted painfully in my chest, churning and twisting relentlessly. I was so ashamed of myself for being so callous to a man who had done nothing but lend a helping hand to me in my time of need. “I’m so sorry, Damon,” I murmured, lowering my head in shame. Tears filled my eyes. “I have to go to work.”

[Cover Reveal] THE HORDE WITHOUT END by Nazarea Andrews

THE HORDE WITHOUT END by Nazarea Andrews
Coming July 17th, 2014
Dystopian

BLURB:

It was supposed to be over…

Returning from Haven 18 was supposed to be the end. But nothing is ever easy—and in a world full of zombies, finding the missing is next to impossible. There are breadcrumbs. Tiny clues. But what are a few tiny clues in a world of the dead?

Nurrin is desperate to find her brother, but that will mean trusting Finn O’Malley. A man shrouded in secrets, who kills as easily as breathing. And the more she learns about him, the more questions she has. But she has learned one thing—the zombies are changing. Adapting. And this time, the Haven walls won’t keep them out.
EXCERPT:

I slide a glance at Finn. His hands are deep in his pockets, and a blank expression has settled over his face. “I thought you said your name wouldn’t open doors here.” I say, a little bitchy.
He shrugs slightly. “It didn’t.”
No. It didn’t—his past did. How much does that bother him? From the tight grip he’s got on himself and his emotions, more than I know.
“What can I do for you?” Ansliey says, picking up on the tension and changing the subject.
“First aid kit?”
Ansliey grabs it from the kitchen and Finn tugs me to the table, sitting me down with my head tilted back as he inspects the wound on my neck. I keep my eyes trained on the ceiling as his fingers move with practiced precision over my wound. When he rubs it roughly with an alcohol swab, I hiss and look at him.
His face is blank as he works, but his eyes—his eyes are hot and furious. I shiver, and he meets my gaze, all of that emotion there for me to see.
And then it’s gone, shut carefully away and he finishes cleaning my neck. I keep my gaze averted, and when he tapes the last gauze on and steps away, I mutter a quick thanks and straighten, moving away from him.
His gaze follows me and seems to mock me. I ignore him, and focus on Ansliey, who is watching us with a bemused look.
“What can you tell us of recent Haven arrivals?” Finn says abruptly.
“Three arrived a few days back. In pretty bad shape—we’ve been seeing a lot of refugees recently, more than we have in the past decade. I don’t know where they came from—the Priest met with the Aldermen before they left again.”
Finn frowns, “They were with a Priest? Of the Order?”
Ansliey nods, “Arrived together. The Priest and a sick one, in a truck. The other was on a bike.”
My heart drops. Why the hell is Collin keeping company with a priest? What about that makes any sense at all?

Better WhenHe's BadSynopsis:
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point. There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter. Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way. Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced. Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

EXCERPT:
I let out the breath I was holding and took another step closer to her. The water was splashing on the sleeve of my shirt as I reached up to grab both of her cheeks in my palms. “Are you scared of me?”  It was the start of the questions I had asked her what felt like a lifetime ago. Her answer didn’t change, but this time when she answered, she was holding back a smile that made my heart hurt. “Terrified, but I kind of like it now.” “Do you trust me?” My voice broke. I had never really trusted anyone but Race and now there was her and my brother and just all kinds of new things making my life so much more complicated and undeniably fuller. “With my life. I trust all the parts of you, Bax. You need to know that.” “You going to go to bed with me?” That made her outright laugh and she reached up to curl her hands around my wrists. “As often as I can and anyplace in between when the mood strikes.” The rest of the blood racing around my system went solidly south. I dropped my forehead so it was resting on hers and the water from the showerhead was cascading down around us. I was making a mess, but I didn’t care because I had her, and she was my home. “Do you love me?” The words sounded so foreign, but so right, when I was saying them to her. She brushed her full lips across mine and the last three months without her faded away. “Do you want me to lie to you or tell you the truth?” I smiled against her mouth and kissed her back twice as hard as she had kissed me. “Lie to me.” She reached up and put her arms around my neck and took a step back, dragging me all the way into the shower stall with her. The water was lukewarm at best, and it made me shiver. So did the fact that she started to impatiently pull the tail of my shirt up over my head. A task made increasingly difficult considering I was now soaked head to toe and the material was clinging to me. “Of course not. You’re the last person in the world I could love.”
