“I’m sorry.” She drops her eyes, refusing to look at me.
I exhale, as if someone just squeezed my chest and forced my body to expel all of the oxygen in my lungs. My eyes burn and my vision clouds as my blood pumps loudly in my ears. It feels like my head might explode. I take a step away from her, my body shaking as I let what she’s done sink in, gritting my teeth, swallowing to keep myself from losing it. And I force myself to breathe. I just take a moment to try to breathe. Fuck. I can’t.
Taking my moment of horror as her opportunity, Henrietta steps through the door and rushes for the car waiting for her at the curb. It’s Aaron’s. Fucking Aaron’s? Is she serious? She gets rid of our baby and she immediately hooks up with fucking Aaron? Is she for real?
Red flashes before my eyes as all sound seems to vanish from around me. I ball my fist tightly at my side then cock my arm and roar, “NO,” as I slam my fist into the row of letterboxes on the wall. I hit it with such force that some of the doors buckle and fly open. But I don’t feel any pain. I’m way beyond any sort of feeling right now. All I have is one emotion – rage.
Some sort of animal noise comes out of me as I push through the door and chase after that fucking car. I grab for the door. I hit at the window. But they just keep driving. They just keep fucking driving!
The woman I love.
The woman who is my very reason for breathing.
My reason for living.
Just drove away with another man.

I drop to my knees, and throw my head back, roaring at the heavens like my soul has just been ripped from my body.
“Damien! What’s happened?” a voice says from behind me. I turn to see Bec, standing there with my t-shirt on to cover her body.
I narrow my eyes and get to my feet. “You happened, Bec. You and your toxic fucking pussy. Don’t ever knock on my door or speak to me again.”
